Friday Blog Hops #20

Follow my book blog Friday is hosted by Parajunkee’s View & Alison Can Read.

I’m a feature this week for Follow Friday! *bounce* Hello new people. As I’m on WordPress, I haven’t got GFC with it going away in March but I do have plenty of other ways you can follow me which are just as easy, just check the sidebar and choose whichever you prefer! 🙂

Q. When you’ve read a book, what do you do with it? (Keep it, give it away, donate it, sell it, swap it..?)

That all depends on the book. 99% of the time, I keep it. In fact just this week we moved and oh my god. I know I have a lot of books but you just don’t realise until you have to pack them all up, do you? I must have over 300 and I left a fair few behind. So yeah, I keep a lot, but if I wasn’t too bothered then I’ll either swap it on Read It Swap It (the UK’s answer to Paperback Swap) or donate them to a charity shop unless they’re worth enough to sell. But mostly I’m a hoarder!

Merry Christmas. x

  1. Hi there fellow featured blogger!

It’s nice to meet you (:

How great of you to donate and give, I wish I could be cured of my book hoarding but I don’t think I can (or want) hee hee.

Lovely blog, new twitter follower 🙂

  2. Happy Follow Friday! I used to be a book hoarder, and still am somewhat. It gets hard when you’re a school librarian with a tiny budget though; I end up passing on a lot of my books to the library so my students can enjoy them too.

  3. How cool to be featured! I don’t do Follow Friday due to all the following requirements which sounds mean but I don’t like following blogs I don’t intend to read.

  4. Lovely to meet you. I am a new follower from the Follow Friday hop, congrats on your feature!

I am a book hoarder as well. I just have such a hard time parting with them, even the ones I didn’t love and know that I won’t read again. It’s an addiction! LOL

    1. /tips hat. Hello! 🙂
It is! It really is! I think I drive my partner insane with it, haha. “More books? But you haven’t read the hundreds you have!”

  5. Congrats on being featured!! 🙂

    I’m following via G+

It is crazy to realize how many books you have, I totally agree. I think I manage my stash so closely b/c of moving so often!!

  6. Hi, Hannah!

I’m trying to post for the second time, since I don’t think it went through the first time.

Anyway…CONGRATS on being a featured blog this week!! I’m following you through Networked Blogs.

In regards to this question, I have to say that I’m a hoarder myself. If I absolutely LOVE a book, I can’t get rid of it. I I LOATHE it, it’s just a matter of finding someone to give it to. Anything to get rid of it!

As for swapping or lending, I don’t like to do either. Once I’ve read a book, and loved it, I just can’t let it go!

    1. It did go through, you were just picked up by my spam filter. It’s not a big fan of urls in comments, heh. Good job I tend to check in there 🙂
And haha, I know what you mean. I don’t know too many readers though so I donate to charity shops. If it’s no good for selling, I know some get money from outside companies to give them bags of what they don’t want. So I always remember that. 🙂

  7. Hi, there, Hannah!

CONGRATS on being a featured blog this week!! TERRIFIC!!! I’m now following you through Networked Blogs!

Well, I must ocnfess I’m a book hoarder, too!! If I LOVE a book, I simply can’t part with it, no matter what! If I don’t like a book at all, then that’s another matter….And swapping books is completely OUT for me!! (So is lending!)

  8. What is this thing you speak of? I’ll have to look into it.

I’m a bit of a snob with my books and tend to keep mine for me alone since I worry about the quality of them being ruined. When (and if!) I move out for University, I’m dreading doing what you recently did. Merely the thought of trawling through all those books make me weak at the knees. I donate some maybe bi-annually, but I’m very hoard-y of my books.

  9. I donate at least 1/2 to the library, pass most on to friends and keep my favorites or autographed books.

I still have an enormous amount of books in my house with my TBR pile.

  10. Hey there! Happy Friday 😀

I don’t often do anything with my books since I don’t really can — no one in my surrounding likes the same books (or read at all) and I don’t have the economy to ship them away to friends either… I’d love being able to spread the book love otherwise! I’ve donated some for space though. 🙂 Good with e-readers for that though!

  11. Hello Hannah,
Congrats on being a feature on the FF this week. I’m a new follower via networked Blogs.

I have to admit, I don’t have many physical books, so I can’t really consider myself a hoarder. I have a few my on e-Readers though and of course those can’t be shared. So I do treasure and tend to hesitate to lend out books.

  12. Hi. Congrats on being the featured blog. I just moved my blog from WordPress to blogger and am hoping to connect with other book lovers like me. This is my first Friday doing a blog hop, so I hope I get it right.

    1. So long as you answer the question and interact with people as you’d like them to interact with you, you’re doing it right 😀 It’s all a bit of fun.

  13. Hi, I think your blog is awesome! You really have it set up beautifully. We have many of the same memberships. :]
What do I do with my read books~mostly hoard them like you do! LOL But, I’ve begun to pass them on to my daughter who is now in her 30’s and has begun to read seriously, and to my friends who take reading seriously. I don’t like to give them away randomly. Books are treasures to me, so I care about where they go. Alas, no bulk “to the swap houses” for me…it’s like sending them off to an orphanage! LOL
I’m a new network follower. Merry Christmas!

  14. Happy Featured Blogger Day! Love your blog & the snow…so fun!

I love to keep my favorite books, but I’m a teacher so most books I read end up in my classroom after I’ve read them. I also try to hit the library at least once a week. If I really love a book, I’ll buy a copy for myself to keep.

    Have a great day!

    1. Thank you! Ahhh, that’s kinda cool. I can’t go to libraries so frequently. I borrowed like 3 books at a time and rarely get time to read them.

  15. Fantastic posting this week! And congrats on being the feature! 🙂 I love the name of your blog, and I am totally a new follower via: facebook! I totally hoard all my books as well, so I get that! lol.

    1. Thank you! Deliberated over it for a while and then thought, “hey wait, that’s perfect!” I did, of course, triple check it wasn’t already in use.

  16. Squee! Congrats on the feature!

Oh goodness, I moved a couple of months ago, and I knew I had a lot of books, but SERIOUSLY? I never knew how much space they took up and how darn heavy they are :S

In any case, hope the move went smoothly.
    Sarah (New follower) xx

  17. Congrats on being a feature blog this week. I love your blog and a new follower now. I think I would be a secret hoarder if my library wasn’t so close by.

  18. Hi , it’s nice to meet featured book bloggers on follow friday . I love getting books as gifts , it saves me money 🙂 Anyway I added your blogs url to my blog list. Have a great weekend!

  19. New Follower! I used to be a book hoarder too but when my kids came along, I started giving up my books to swap for books for them. Now, they have more than I do 🙂

    Have a great weekend!

  20. Hello fellow UK blogger, nice to meet you. I love fantasy as well (in fact, I read very little else) Did you see the series of Game of Thrones? It was brilliant! If you’d like to pay me a visit, I’m over at: http:\

    1. I have seen all but the last couple of episodes! I read the book though, but I’m saving those episodes for when I get chance to read Clash of Kings because at the moment I don’t have time for it with review books and it always makes me want to devour the rest of the series haha. Very very good adaptation though!

    1. Thanks, you too! I know! 😀 Fell on the week I moved so borrowing the father-in-law’s (well we aren’t married but close enough) laptop to sort out the post!

  21. First of all, congratulations on being featured this week! And second, I know how it feels – all the good hops and weekly memes get posted during european night time. I’m only one hour ahead of you but when I wake up in the morning I fly straight on my computer to check all the news. 😀

  22. Congrats on being featured this week! I had the chance to visit London a few years ago and really miss my time there. Hope you have a great weekend!
